Alexander J Daniels

Alexander Daniels is a New York City based playwright, screenwriter, performance artist, comedian, and film director known for creating bold, absurdist work that blends satire with social critique. As an off Broadway playwright, his debut play Hot Pussy Time Machine premiered at Soho Playhouse and was a finalist in the Soho Playhouse Lighthouse Series, a program dedicated to discovering innovative new voices in contemporary theater. His plays have been produced in New York and nationally, including commissions and development with experimental theaters such as The Brick.
As a writer and performer, Daniels has collaborated with comedy legends including Matt Walsh, creating original sketch comedy, and has contributed to multiple award winning web series. His work spans playwriting, screenwriting, and comedy writing, supported by professional experience in television and comedy development at Sony Pictures and Marta Kauffman’s Okay Goodnight.
As a filmmaker, Daniels wrote the award winning short film El Alma De La Sed, which explores poverty and climate crisis and has screened at international film festivals. The film has received recognition from NFFTY, the Savannah Film Festival, and New York Indie Shorts. Trained in stand up comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade, Daniels brings a performance driven sensibility to all of his work across theater, film, and live comedy.
Daniels received his BFA in Dramatic Writing from the Savannah College of Art and Design. His work and artistic voice have been featured on BroadwayWorld, and he has been interviewed by Evil Thespian and Stage Whisper Podcast. Rooted in humor and urgency, his work examines race, power, pleasure, and assimilation, creating immersive theatrical and cinematic experiences that invite audiences into participation rather than observation.
